Marvin Morin (b.1936-2003)

He was born May 31, 1936, at the Fort Belknap Indian Hospital, Harlem, Montana.  He spent his early life in Hays, Montana located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation.  His full name is Marvin Michael Morin aka Fatty Moran, Fatty Morin, Fat Moran, Fat Morin, and JD Littleshell.  Fat was a Métis (French for mongrel) meaning he was predominately Chippewa and French but had several other nationalities and tribes mixed in.

Fat passed away, of natural causes, at the age of 67 on September 25, 2003 in Billings, Montana.  Fat traveled extensively in the US and Canada.  He was predominately a sculptor, but did do some oils.  He was mostly self trained but did attended the  Chicago School of Art.  Fat liked to do his sculptures in great detail and made many of his own tools to do so.  His work is mainly western themed, cowboys, Indian, horses, bears, elks and rodeo scenes.
