Biography from a third party submitted on 07/29/2008:
Born in Spain, the son of an import/exporter of bulls between Spain and Mexico, Miguel Paredes had early childhood memories rich with exotic images of people and places.  His mother, a Terascan Indian, would often take him to the many plazas in Mexico City where nearby his family settled on a ranch.  There, Miguel would "just sit, watch and observe the people".  These excursions would provide the young Miguel with material for his earliest sketches.

Paredes' passion for the study of the human form began when, at the age of eight, he became intrigued by a drawing, done by his brother, of an Indian carrying a rock in his hands.  That experience prompted him to pursue the art of portraiture and with a set of oil paints given to him by his mother, Miguel began his art career at the age of twelve by placing first in a school art show.  It was there that he sold his first portrait.

Making the United States his permanent home in the mid-seventies, Miguel established a reputation for an extraordinary treatment of form and light.  Painting from his second story studio overlooking the sea, Miguel has responded to the constant demand for his skill and talent and paints a wide range of subjects.

Patrons have included "Melodyland", who commissioned a mural of the city of Jeruselum, and Armstrongs, a porcelain company that features Paredes' work on many of its plates.  Miguel has been featured in the Orange County Register, Los Angeles Times, Orange County Magazine, Collector's Mart magazine, Plate World magazine and Plate World Who's Who.
