Dorothy LaSelle was born in Nebraska in 1901. After earning a BA
in English from Nebraska Wesleyan University, she received her MA from
the University of Chicago in 1926. She had her first solo exhibit
at the Renaissance Society Gallery at the University of Chicago in
1926, and then spent a half year traveling Europe. In 1928 she
began what was to be a long career teaching at a small women's college
in Texas.
LaSelle spent her sabbatical year in 1931-32 studying
