Biography from Hammer Galleries:
Pauline Burton was born in Brussels, Belgium and immigrated with her family to the United States as a child.  She grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan and attended the High School of Music and Art. Upon graduating she studied fashion illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.  Since that time she has lived in Buckinghamshire; Los Angeles, Santa Fe, and Jerusalem, places which she believes have all contributed to her artistic sense of light and color.   She makes her home today in Manhattan with her husband Steven.

Pauline Burton began her work in oil at Marymount College in 1999, and studied at Boston University and the Art Student's League in New York.  When asked what drew her to painting, she replied, "For many years I have practiced a form of meditation which led me to the desire to express myself as a painter."  Her latest still-life paintings are inspired by the American Impressionists, particularly the work of William Merritt Chase.

Pauline Burton's first one-woman show was held in upstate New York in May of 2003. Among those attending the opening were New York Governor George Pataki and his wife Libby, who purchased one of Pauline's paintings for exhibition at the Governor's Mansion in Albany
