Mary Ann Xantippe Saunders
Born in Kentucky 1838, Died 1922 in Louisville,Kentucky
Xantippe, or Tip as she liked to be called was a Louisville portrait painter and teacher of art. Tip also showed artistic talent early. She had studied art in Louisville under Professor Cornelius Pering, who ran an art school in Louisville for many years. His daughter, Cornelia Pering, also artistic, was a pupil in the school, and the two girls began a life-ling friendship.
