Interested in birds and animals from early childhood on, she is said to have created birds out of crayolas, warmed in the sun. At 16, Ford won a prize for carving a bear and a cub in sandstone. She studied at Scripps College with Albert Stewart and became the youngest artist ever invited to show her work at the Dalzell Hatfield Gallery. Subsequently, she studied with Maija Grotell at the Cranbrook Art Academy and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in 1950. She was the feat (showing 500 of 772 characters). |
