Born in Dorgali (Sardinia, Italy) in 1944, Antonio Secci, following the advice of Gianni Dova and Guy Harloff, moved to Milan in 1966, where he studied at the “Scuola degli Artefici di Brera”.  Here he met, among others, Lucio Fontana and Roberto Crippa.  Soon Roberto Crippa became friend and mentor of Antonio Secci, until 1972, when Crippa suddenly died in an airplane accident. The common artistic feeling between Crippa and Secci appears clearly in the two “four hands” paintings that they produced together in 1970.  During the Milan period Antonio Secci was an active actor within the Spatialism of Fontana, Castellani, Bonalumi, Simeti and the Nuclear painting of Manzoni, Dova, Crippa e Baj.  He also made several stages in France, in Switzerland as well as in the USA, participating in the biennale in Menton (F) and exhibiting with Crippa at the Jolas Gallery in New York.

In 1973, when his artistic career was blooming, a series of adverse events forced Antonio Secci to leave Milan and become a farmer in his home land Sardinia.  For roughly two decades Antonio Secci stayed away from the artistic world until he was invited to exhibit at the Art Museum in Nuoro (MAN_Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro). This event, which took place at the turn of the millennium, marked the beginning of a second artistic life for Secci: he found a new stream and his productivity started flourishing again.

Numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad have made Antonio Secci’s art again well known at National and International level; among them: Galerie Nering + Stern in Berlin/D (2005), Galerie Steibrecher and vhs-Galerie am schwarzen meer in Bremen/D (,2005), Acquario Comunale in Cala Gonone/I (2008, organized by the municipality of Dorgali and the MAN_Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro), University of Basel /CH (2008), S&G Arte Contemporanea GmbH in Berlin/D (“Kontraste”, 2008–2009), Colonna Pevero Arte n Porto Cervo/I (2009), Chiostro San Salvatore in Laura  in Rome/I (“Le radici in cielo”, 2010), La Biennale di Venezia – Padiglione Sardegna at the Museo d’Arte Moderna Mosedu in Sassari/I (2011), Gallerie G of Olomouc/CZ (“Metrein”, 2011).

Antonio Secci’s  production is represented in important private and public collections in Italy and abroad . Numerous art critics have positively commented on his work.  At present Antonio Secci lives in Cala Gonone (Sardinia, Italy).
