Born in Jamshedpur, in 1942, Jahar Dasgupta went to Kala Bhavan,
Shantiniketan at the age of 19. He had among his teachers artists
including Nandalal Bose, Ramkinkar Baij and Binod Behari Mukherjea.
He left the art school in 1964.

exhibitions in major cities of India his works have been exhibited
abroad in Nehru Centre, London; Maison De 1’ Inde Salle, Paris; Salon
Exposition, South Korea; Gallery Hansmania, Oslo, Norway; Club

participated in a Europe tour of art camps and exhibitions organized by

Habitat Centre, Lokayata Art Gallery and Elements Art gallery in New
Delhi; Jehangir Art Gallery, Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery and Prince of
Wales Museum at Mumbai; Laxmana Art Gallery, Hyderabad.
His paintings are also displayed in his hometown in Kolkata.
