Leon Sitarchuk was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1922. Sitarchuk went on to study at the Tyler
School of Art at Temple University. In
1948, he earned a BA degree in fine art as well as a BS degree in education. He then went on to receive a MA in fine arts
and education in 1949.
participation in the Third Sculpture International Exhibit that same year,
Sitarchuk's reputation as a sculptor especially grew in prominence.
Sitarchuk passed away in 1993.
He taught at the Philadelphia College of Art, the
Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as the Cheltenham Township Art Center. He acted as the chairperson for the Sculpture Committee of
the Philadelphia Art Alliance for the continual promotion of art in Philadelphia.
Sitarchuk's work can be seen in the Philadelphia Museum of
Art, St. Joseph's University, and the Montgomery County Community College and
on Rodman Street in Philadelphia.
