This biography from the Archives of AskART:

The following biographical information was submitted by S.L. Somers, whose source is the label of a painting he owns by the artist.

Tannye Norris Hill - Jan 10, 1898 - Jan 11, 1987

b. Dallas, TX, d. Arlington, TX

Notes on label on back of painting Nassau by Tannye Hill, 1951

"Studied at Southern Methodist under Miss Olive Donaldson; Dallas Art Institute with Olin and Katherine Travis; Colorado Springs Museum of Fine Arts under Ernest Lawson; Bardasano's School of Art, Mexico City; and student of Frank Klepper over a period of twenty years.  Received awards in wood carving, enameling on copper and batik painting as well as oil painting."  Painting is signed "T Hill" in lower left corner.

This painting (Nassau), 16x20 oil on canvas board, was entered in an unknown competition as "entry 126."

(There were companion paintings, also, from this trip to Nassau).  It was received as a wedding present from the artist in 1968.  Many paintings are owned by her daughter and grandchildren in Arlington, TX.
