This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Scott Tyson, son of the artist.

"I am the son of Paul C Tyson the carver on your site whose bird brought $7020 according to your record at a Pook and Pook sale four years ago.  His bio is very interesting as he came out of a PA Dutch pietist sect family called the Dunkards whose religion was very similar to that of the Amish in those days.  My father remembers seeing objects of folk art at his grandparents farm in Trappe, Montgomery Co . PA.

His life is also intertwined with folk artist David Ellinger since David worked at the Trappe farm while my Dad was there also.  One of our relatives was in fact included in one of David's oils on canvas as he prayed as a pastor at a Love Feast. That painting was published in a book in the 40s.

Needless to say my Dad came by the talent for Pennsylvania folk art honestly.  He is published in Richard and Rose Marie Machmer's book, Just firNice, on Pennsylvania folk carving.

My Dad's work was included in an exhibition of folk carving at the Berks County, Pennsylvania Historical Society by invitation.  In 1978 he was the subject of an article by noted antique author John Shuman.

He estimated that he carved between 1000 and 1500 carvings both large and small in his nine years of activity while living in Chester County, Pennsylvania near Pottstown PA.

He was born in Royersford PA in 1921.
