Biography from Lang's Sporting Collectables:
Ernest Schwiebert's first public recognition came with his 1955 book Matching the Hatch. Penning the comprehensive work, as well as illustrating the color plates, the book's title and descriptions would become commonplace within circles of fly tiers.

Attending the University of Ohio, Schwiebert received his bachelor's as well as a master's degree in fine art (1960).  Further educating his studies, the designer received his doctorate from Princeton University in 1966.

Honing his skills of illustrating detail through his profession as an architect, Schwiebert lent his talents to illustrate his 1970 book Salmon of the World. The book proved to be a success with delicate drawings as well a portfolio of thirty color plates.

In 1973, Schwiebert executed a 1,834 two volume work simply titled Trout. The book told the origins and specifics of trout fishing from the earliest of times, brimming with original illustrations after line drawings.

An immortalized icon of fly fishing, Schwiebert is well remembered amongst the fly fishing community for his contributions to the field.
