Ivan Dobroruka was born in Czechoslovakia in 1934.  Although originally a music student he soon switched his main interest, the field of art, and studied painting and graphics at Prague's renowned Ecole dex Art et Metiers.  
 
Since his graduation in 1956, his time has been devoted to drawing, etching and painting.  He illustrated a number of books, did considerable commercial art for Czechoslovakian newspapers and magazines and has designed theatrical costumes.
 
From 1958 to 1968, he worked as an art teacher.  During this period he was chairman of a commission responsible for the selection of children's paintings for various UNESCO exhibitions and was a member of the Association of Czechoslovakian Artists.
 
Since 1963, he spent several months of each year in Greece, including a stay at the Monk's Republic of Mount Athos.  He has made an extensive study of Byzantine Art and uses the technique in many of his paintings.
 
Dobroruka lived in Montreal, Canada since the 1970's with his wife and their two sons.  He had numerous exhibitions throughout the United State, and Canada while he taught art at the University in Montreal.

Born in 1934, he is a member of the Association of Czechoslovakian artists.. He studied at Prague's renowned Ecole des Arts et Metiers.. Illustrated a number of books and did commercial art from 1958 to 1968..Dobroruka worked as art teacher.
