Raised in the suburbs of Boston, and living in Brooklyn, Ben Coonley is described as a "new media prankster". He uses tools of consumer technology such as Photoshop and You Tube and creates media shows, which have "turned tedious formalist film styles into slapstick." Among his venues are the Art Institute of Chicago and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
His best known work is Valentine for Perfect Strangers, which he completed in 2006 and which was a feature of the 2007 Moscow Bi (showing 500 of 1202 characters). |
