Born in Iowa, Gladys L. Bate was a ceramist, weaver, illustrator and teacher. She trained at the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Kansas, and Columbia University She studied with Glenn Lukens and with Margit Ljunggren.
Bate was supervisor of art education in Wichita and taught at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was instructor in Design from 1925-27, and Assistant in Design in 1940- 41 at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. (showing 459 of 1472 characters). |
