This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Gray County, Kansas, 1907 and died Denver, October 2, 2002, Blanche Carstenson was a textile artist,  painter and printmaker and also a musician.

She helped found the Mid-America Annual Exhibition at the Nelson Art Museum in Kansas City and served as Director for eight years.  She founded the Unitarian Gallery in the early 1960s, and was a guiding force in the Kansas City Artist's Coalition.

She taught printmaking, batik, and gave art lectures.
