Born in Wichita, Kansas, July 21, 1911 and dying in Corona, California
on January 25, 1999, Vera Ruth Jackson was a photographer. An
African-American, she spent her teenage years in Corona, California.
In 1936, Jackson began to take government-sponsored photography classes
taught by George Manuel, where she learned about the use of camera
equipment, as well as processing techniques. Jackson was hired as
a staff photographer for the California Eagle, where she (showing 500 of 1182 characters). |
