Becky's interest in painting and drawing began as a child and those seeds of her passion were nurtured in the museums of Europe during her early adult years. She spent two decades in the computer industry as a Programmer/ Analyst; however, she continued in her art interests through classes and occasional exhibits. In 1990 she decided to devote herself exclusively to her lifetime's desire for painting and drawing.
Although Becky Stuart's early training and focus has been traditional classical portraiture, she is equally skilled in florals, still lives, and landscapes/seascapes. She has attended workshops at the Scottsdale Art School and studied with such internationally renowned artists as David Leffel, Frank Covino, Dalhart Windberg, and Daniel Greene. Her pastels have won awards and have been exhibited in shows in California, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Becky is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists, the Portrait Society of America, the Pastel Society of North Florida and The Degas Pastel Society. She has taught painting and drawing privately and has conducted drawing classes at the University of West Florida.
In 2001 she was commissioned by the Pensacola Junior College Foundation to paint a portrait of Anna Lamar Switzer that will hang in the College's Hall of Honor .
Her studio is located in Pensacola Beach, Florida, where she and her husband Don have made their home since 1996.
"My passion for painting is always with me," Stuart says. "Every morning the joy, pleasure and thrill of this marvelous painting process is renewed."
