Sutter Marin 1926- 1985
A California painter and poet affiliated with San Francisco's North Beach and the San Francisco Beat Movement. His small paintings were in an exuberant figurative or abstract style. He was an instructor at the San Francisco Art Institute and at the San Francisco Creative Art Center, which he co-founded. Often collaborating with Beat poet ruth weiss, he illustrated her book of poetry Gallery of Women and was immortalized in one of her poe (showing 500 of 1522 characters). |
