This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biography, submitted March 2009, is from the artist:

I was born in Vernon, TX on August 7, 1945 and grew up in Wichita Falls, TX, where I graduated from High School in 1963.   I married Mary Hinsley in 1963.  I attended college at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, TX and at North Texas State University in Denton, TX, where I earned a BA in 1968.

I painted as a hobby until 1998 when I started painting full time.  To fuel my new passion, we sold our home and bought an RV so that I could paint anywhere.  I have traveled to paint in most of the Western States, including Hawaii, the Canadian Rockies, and Mexico.  I prefer to paint from Nature, because Nature is the best teacher and a demanding taskmaster.

I am best known for representational landscapes, especially of Texas and the Rocky Mountain states.  Influenced by Edgar Payne, Carl Rungius, Isaac Levitan, and Chauncey Ryder.  Contemporary influences include Scott Christensen, Clyde Aspevig, and Matt Smith.  Studied with Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, Ralph Oberg, and Kevin MacPherson.

I belong to Oil Painters of America, Outdoor Painters Society, and Art League of Fort Bend.  Former member of National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters.  Former board member of Plano Art Association and former member of Association of Creative Artists of Dallas.

“Jamaica Point Field” is in the collection of Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD.  “Levitation” was in the Art for the Parks Top 100 in 2001.  I have also had work exhibited at the Farmington Museum, the OPA Central Regional in 2008, Nomadas de Arte in 2007 & 2008, NAPPAP Shows in Dallas in 2007 and in Winter Park, CO in 2006, Horizons Texas 2006 in Lakeway, TX, Salon International in 2005, and Bosque County Conservatory of Art in 2004.

I also teach workshops at Fredericksburg Art School and other locations.
