| William E. McKee was born in California on August 13, 1901. McKee began winning poster prizes while a student at Hollywood High School in 1917. Upon graduation, he continued his art training at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Returning to Los Angeles, he had a studio into the 1930s. He died on February 5, 1988.
