Biography from Greg Thompson Fine Art:
Mark Blaney was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1948, and now is a full time artist and resident of Russellville, Arkansas.  Blaney studied painting and design at the Art Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio.

His rich painterly style has earned him several awards over the years including the Delta Award at the Arkansas Art Center, Arkansas Arts Council Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Award, and Honorable Mention awards in several important exhibitions in Arkansas.

Blaney creates paintings and sculptures that celebrate everyday people and events often with an underlying narrative.  His style beckons to the important art movements of history including the Impressionist and Post Impressionist movements in European and American culture with a nod to Southern Regionalism.

Some public collectors of note include The Fay Boozman College of Public Health, the Donald W. Reynolds Campus of the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranch, Duke University in Durham North Carolina, and Smith-Barney Investments in San Francisco.
