Marrying Austin Ketcham on May 22, 1924, Florence Virginia
Olson had left the public schools of Kansas City at the age
of 16 to study at the Kansas City Art Institute and then went to New York
to work in the Borglum Brothers Studio as a sculptor,
particularly under Solon Borglum.
When he died in 1922,
and the New York studio was being closed,
Gutzon Borglum invited her to accompany him to South Dakota where he was
