Born in Chile in 1948, he moved to California in 1972. Previously influenced by Fauvism and Expressionism in his object and non-objective painting, Guzman-Maldonado began painting the California landscape, en plein air, very early in the morning or right before sunset. He cites Charles Reiffel, Maurice Braun and Charles Fries as influences. He began painting with his fingers and realized that objects performed better than the paint brush. His palette became heavy and colors abstra (showing 500 of 933 characters). |
