Biography from Corrigan Gallery LLC:
A native of Knighton, Wales, Lynne Riding has always had a love of landscape and has found much of her inspiration from the nature that surrounds her.  Her paintings are simplistic in form that reinforces the importance of line and space.  By taking the work to the simplest form, Riding captures it's true essence.

Her newest body of work is minimalist abstraction yet informed by the found object or form that she has discovered in the landscape.  Her work deals with human frailty and impermanence and our connection to nature and reflects a hint of the explorations of the physicists into string theory.  She intends to convey a sense of peace with an undercurrent of tension that holds things together, a transparency that both fulfills and empties at the same time.

Riding studied in Englnad at the Hereford College of Art & Design from 1968 to 1970, and the Manchester College of Art & Design, 1970-1973 in the United Kingdom.  She lived and worked undertaking various commissions, mainly in London and Paris while teaching figure drawing, design and painting, at a central London college.

She was included in "Best of European Illustration," London.  Moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 1992, Lynne Riding exhibited widely and developed her own work in drawing, painting, and printmaking.  Since 1998, she has taught at the College of Charleston as a full-time adjunct professor of fine art also.  She holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, California.

Lynne Riding's large scale paintings were showcased in both "30th Parallel - A Convergence of Contemporary Painting," JMOMA, Jacksonville, Florida and "CYMK," TransAmerica Pyramid, San Francisco, CA.

Other group exhibits include, "Recent Work," Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, College of Charleston; "Terra Incognita," the Diego Rivera Gallery, San Francisco; "Trizec-13th Annual," Charlotte; and "Places and Spaces: Landscape and Genre Scenes in the South," the Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston.  Her last two solo show were in Charleston and Santa Fe.
