| Born in Cork, Ireland in 1880. O’Brien taught art in Cork and Dublin for several years. While there, he exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy and received a silver medal from London's board of education. He came to San Francisco in 1913 and established a studio south of Market. There he produced several portrait busts before moving to NYC where he was active into the late 1920s. As well as a sculptor, he was also a playwright and lecturer.
