Biography from Windham Fine Arts:
Librado Romero, chief photographer of The New York Times, travels around the country by train, drawing and painting what he sees in the passing landscape.  Through his art, he reveals a world of passionate journeys, through public and private pathways. Both playful and powerful, his vision of the world blends personal experience with a fantastic imagination.

Artist Statement: "I'm not interested in details and I don't really have the time traveling at eighty plus miles per hour, and that's the challenge.  There's no option but to simplify lines, making suggestions of things that you're not sure of to begin with& paints vibrant landscapes... Everything is fleeting, people; esoteric industrial objects become nothing more than sculpture. It's the mystery of these things that fascinate me, and I hope that the same mystery holds true for the viewers that they in turn will try to solve what they might be looking at with their own imagination."

His work is an expression of feeling and emotion, although not totally detached from reality. His latest work reflects a bright, child-like world view. Lee's cheerful demeanor comes through these paintings while showing the great maturity that comes from forty years of painting.
