Avni Arbas was born in Istanbul in 1919. He studied under Leopold Levy in the Paintings Department of the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts (currently known as Mimar Sinan University). He moved to Paris in 1946 and lived there until 1976.
His works are in several international museums and institutions around the world, such as the Picasso Museum in Antibes and Fine Arts Gallery in Amman. He died in 2003.
