| Born in Holland, MI on July 29, 1857. Van Vleck arrived in San Francisco in 1874. About 1890
she organized the art department at Cogswell High School and in 1894 was made head of the art department at Polytechnic High School. A spinster, she died in San Francisco on Jan. 24, 1929. | Source:
