| Born near Vernon, IN on Sept. 20, 1879. Vawter studied civil engineering at Purdue University and University of Illinois. During 1908-09 he studied art and architecture at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He then moved to southern California and became a successful architect in San Diego and Los Angeles. He died in the latter on Feb. 9, 1957. Member: San Diego Art Guild; American WC Society. Exh: Architectural Club (LA), 1911; Santa Cruz Art League, 1938; Calif. WC Society, 1944.
