Guan Zilan was born in Shanghai 1903 and was one of the most famous female artists in the Chinese Republic. She studied at the western painting department at Shanghai China University. She was a painter who accepted Fauvism in China earlier than others, and was a student of the well-known oil painter Mr. Chen Baoyi, by whom she had been deeply influenced in regard to the contrast between colors and tones that made her style gorgeous.
