Biography from Cavalier Galleries Inc.:
At the age of 20, Scott began seriously painting when he became associated with the Portrait Society of America whose headquarters are located in Tallahassee, FL. While completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Florida State University, Waddell received private instruction from Portrait Society Vice Chairman, Ed Jonas.  Jonas, an accomplished painter and sculptor introduced Waddell to another young painter named Douglas Flynt, a recent alumnus of Waterstreet Atelier.  Flynt became Waddell's mentor and introduced him to the many concepts he continues to elaborate on in his current work.

After briefly attending the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, Waddell returned to the U.S. to study with Jacob Collins at the Waterstreet Atelier.  After completing two years of study with Mr. Collins in 2006, Waddell ceased being a student of painting and became a professional artist.

He currently resides in Mystic, Connecticut.

Waddell's theories on painting stem from a classical tradition of art making.  He continues to pursue technical progress in the crafting of every painting.  A self described history painter, he earnestly attempts to imbue his narrative depictions with the type of epic grandeur one might find in the pages of Homer.

He hopes to continue expanding his current ‘Whaling’ series by painting larger, more ambitious compositions.  He also has in the works several compositions depicting events from “The Histories” of Herodotus.

His ‘clay figurine’ paintings such as “Provence of Reason” and “Bitter Relief” are described by Waddell as “spasms of postmodernism that mysteriously appear in my sketchbook and subsequently on my canvases.”
