Edwin Dalton Smith (1800-1883)

Known for portrait miniatures and botanical studies, he was the son of painter Anker Smith (1759-1819) and lived in Chelsea, London.  He exhibited much of his work from 1816-47.  He exhibited at least 66 works at the Royal Academy and an additional 13 at the Suffolk Street Galleries.   

He worked for a time with Robert Sweet's Flower Garden.  He published his work in several publications, including Geraniaceae and Fl (showing 500 of 836 characters).
