Biography from Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction:
Artist Statement:

"My paintings embrace the elements of nature from its beauty and magnitude of power to its solace and ethereal affect on man.  Of all of the forces of nature, I am most fascinated with water.  Water--life sustaining, mood altering, revered as sacred in many cultures and religions, and fought over through the ages--has a magnetic power over man.  As an artist, I am challenged to capture its many forms and moods. Sometimes it is a source of enjoyment—refreshing, stimulating, hypnotic, pacifying, and awesome.  At times it is a demon--whipping, whirling, churning, tumultuous, and life threatening.  My palette, the power of brush strokes, and the play of light upon the subject matter are all used to evoke water’s many-faceted attributes. Each canvas is executed with imagination and intuitiveness.

The artist was a scholarship-winning artist at Colorado State University.
