Li Binghong, a native of Dongguan, was born in Hongay, Vietnam, and lived in there during his childhood. He received guidance by Ruan Youqi in his early years and followed Li Tiefu learning painting. He came to Hong Kong in 1931, later changed a lot of jobs such as artistic teacher, store clerk, advertisement designer, stage setting artist and correspondent. Since the anti-Japanese war exploded in He created many anti-Japanese subject art works like , , and hold solo exhibition in Hong Kong, Qujiang, Changsha, Guilin, Shanghai, etc. In 1946, Li arrived at North Jiangsu Base Area to join New 4 Army, and then took on professor in East China Development University. Next Year, he joined Chinese Communist Party. Li came to South China since 1949, and took on positions such as the secretary in Fine Arts Department of Shanghai Military Administration Committee, correspondent of , etc. In 1952, he served as vice professor in Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and the director of Oil-painting Department. Two years later, Li visited Bulgaria, via Moscow and Bucharest. In Li’s later times, he was struggling to revive the fading art skills which destroyed during the Literature Revolution in China. Therefore, he went out sketching in Hainan, Xinjiang and some other places.
