This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Helena, MT on Sept. 2, 1912. Zimmerman settled in Los Angeles in 1937. He then studied at the Art Center School and privately with Sam Hyde Harris, Nicolai Fechin and Will Foster. He took over Foster’s studio and remained in Los Angeles until 1974. Moving back to Montana, he continued to paint there at his home in Helena until shortly before his demise on Feb. 8, 1996.
