Neva Young was born in Nashville, TN on July 20, 1862.  Neva Young came to California with her parents in 1864.  After a few years in Fresno, she settled in Santa Rosa where she taught in the public schools. She was a pupil of Lorenzo P. Latimer whose influence is seen in her watercolors.  In 1918 she married James G. Hood, a vinyardist and remained in Santa Rosa until her demise on Jan. 8, 1937.
