| Born in Washington, DC on Aug. 25, 1912. Ennis worked in San Francisco in commercial art while studying at the CSFA under Spencer Macky (1930s) and Richard Diebenkorn (1940s). He further studied at the Pescadero Art School under Marques Reitzel before moving to southern California. After settling in La Jolla, he was a pupil of Sebastian Capella. He conducted many painting workshops in the San Diego area before his death there on Aug. 24, 1989. His work includes rural scenes, still lifes, and landscapes of the San Diego back country.
