| Ella P. Jacobs was born in Missouri in May 1857. Ella was the wife of James A. Jacobs and a resident of Chicago in 1878. By 1900 she was living in San Francisco and had an art studio where she painted floral still lifes. After the earthquake in 1906, she moved across the bay to Berkeley and lived there into the 1930s
