| Born in New York on March 28, 1868. Jewett studied art in Paris at Académie Julian and with J. Carroll Beckwith in NYC. While based in Albany, NY for many years, he made winter trips to Santa Barbara, CA. He settled there in 1914 into a home at 90 San Leandro. During the 1920s his wall hangings and tapestries were commissioned for Biltmore Hotels and local residences of Spanish-Mediterranean architecture. His illustrations were ample in Omar Khayyam’s Rubiyat. Jewett died in Santa Barbara on May 29, 1955.
