This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information was submitted by the artist, October 2012.

Morgan Price's love of the countryside was fueled by weekly trips into the rolling hills of Cuyahoga and Lake County, Ohio.  The dappled light on the country roads is easily brought to mind as Morgan recalls her first visual memories.  Childhood trips to the Cleveland Museum of Art are some of the earliest memories of an awakening to the beauty of a brush stroke made by Dutch Artist, Frans Hals c. 1580-1666.  Morgan was curious to see all the various colors within the brushstrokes.  It made Morgan keenly aware of the power of a single brush stroke.

Morgan was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  Her first nine years were spent in the north. Then Morgan’s parents decided to make New Smyrna Beach, Florida their winter home.  It did not take long and Morgan was enthralled with the roar of the ocean and the early morning scent of orange blossoms in the winter air.  The fascination with the south blossomed, and Morgan realized as a young teenager that landscape held a fascination for her.  She attempted her first plein-air painting in DeBary, Florida under the tutelage of artist Elliott McMurrough, who was a student of Henry Hensche.

Morgan graduated from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL.  Her first employment as a professional artist was in Kansas City, Missouri with Hallmark Cards, Inc.

The artists who mentored Morgan and fueled her with a passion for painting that has never waned are Loren Wilford, 1892-1972 a respected painter and the leading illustrator of his day in the 1920’s; Patricia Kirkeberg, a professional artist in Florida who took Morgan under her wing at fifteen; Elliott O’Hara, Robert Brackman and George B. Bridgeman.

After art school and an early career spent as an illustrator and art director, Morgan turned her attention to plein-air painting.  In 1972 Morgan opened her first studio in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  In 1976 she studied with Robert Carl Cogar, whom she credits as the most important mentor of her career.

Professional affiliations include:
Salmagundi Club, NYC, NY
Allied Artists of America,
American Society of Marine Artists
Plein Air Painters of the Southeast
