This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Michigan on July 11, 1879. By 1899 Armstrong had settled in San Francisco and was studying at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. At the turn of the century he did pen-and-ink drawings for both the Chronicle and Call; whereas, later in life he was a security guard. He lived in San Francisco until his demise on March 16, 1949.
