This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Ohio on Feb. 18, 1878.  Flemming settled in San Francisco in 1890.  While studying at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute, he met artist Amy Dewing whom he married.  He was active in the local art scene while working as a bank teller.  He maintained a studio in his home at 1439 Greenwich Street where he died on Nov. 13, 1950.
