| Born in Chicago, IL on Sept. 19, 1902. Forster settled in San Francisco with his family as a small child. He began his art study when quite young as a protégé of Harry Stuart Fonda. After studying at the CSFA, he later taught graphic arts there and the CCAC as well as at Stanford University. By the 1920s he was active in the local art scene and during WWII he created news propaganda in the Orient. While there, he developed a lasting interest in Oriental art. He died in San Francisco on July 1, 1991.
