This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in San Francisco, CA on Nov. 5, 1892, the daughter of Adolph Sutro. Adolphine studied locally at the Institute of Art during 1910-13. As well as painting she also was a talented, untrained architect who designed houses with the woman in mind. After her marriage she appears to have abandoned an art career and lived in San Francisco until 1937. She then moved to Los Angeles where she remained until her death on Jan. 2, 1974.
