Born in Draper, SD on Dec. 12, 1915.  Russell came to California when quite young.  After graduating from Hollister High School, he studied at the CCAC.  He settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1930. Working with Jo Mora, he produced the silver work on Mora's sculpture in the Lanovia Room at the Naval Postgraduate School. His art career was interrupted during WWII when he served as a shipfitter at Mare Island Naval Base .  He died at his home in Carmel Highlands on Oct. 22, 2002.
