| Palmer studied with Arthur W. Dow and was an associate of Coles Phillips. Having served as art director for John Wanamakers and on the staff of Vogue magazine, she settled in Los Angeles in the early 1920s. At her studios in the Tajo and San Fernando buildings, she taught commercial art.
