| Born in Houston, TX on May 8, 1910. Hayes studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. By the 1930s he had settled in San Francisco where he had further study at the CSFA under Boynton and Stackpole. He died in Marin County, CA on July 26, 1958.
