| Born in New Jersey on Feb. 17, 1883. Hedges was a hunchback who opened a school for life classes in Los Angeles in 1906. Housed in the Blanchard Bldg, it was called the Art Students League. He directed it until his death there on Jan. 9, 1910 at age 26.
