Mrs. Helen Knudsen Pearce was born in Chicago. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, under Daniel Garber, Joseph T. Pierson and Roy Nuse. She also studied in Provincetown, Massachusetts under Charles W. Hawthorne. She was a member of the All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts.
